A six-week, in-person Digital Transformation Programme for Business Gateway Edinburgh, commissioned by Elevator, helping SMEs adopt and embed digital practices.

The challenge

Following the success of earlier initiatives, DLR Media was commissioned by Elevator to deliver the Digital Transformation Programme for Business Gateway Edinburgh. This was a six-week in-person programme designed to further support SMEs in adopting and embedding digital practices.

The programme brought together 12 participants, with an average weekly attendance of 9.3, demonstrating strong engagement and commitment throughout. The structure focused on delivering six interactive workshops, each centred on practical application and real-world business challenges.

What we did

Key topics included paid advertising, social media content and video creation, TikTok strategy, AI-assisted marketing, LinkedIn prospecting and web and social analytics. The inclusion of AI tools such as ChatGPT enabled participants to explore emerging technologies and apply them directly to marketing campaigns, content creation, and website development.

The programme maintained a strong emphasis on experiential learning, with participants actively building and testing strategies within the sessions. This ensured that learning translated into immediate business action.

The results

  • Increased confidence in using digital tools and platforms
  • Practical implementation of new marketing strategies during the programme
  • Improved content creation, advertising approaches and data-driven decision making
  • Strengthened local business networks through in-person collaboration

Participant feedback reflected high satisfaction, with comments including “fantastic course”, “really good practical sessions”, and “professional with a strong balance of theory and practice”.

The programme demonstrated a scalable and effective model for digital upskilling, enabling SMEs to adopt new tools, improve their marketing performance and build more sustainable digital processes.
