In short
Dundee website prices for 2026: £1,500 or £4,500 + VAT with us, against UK agency ranges, plus what drives cost, hidden extras and local search needs.
A website for a Dundee business costs £1,500 + VAT with us for a one-page brochure site, or £4,500 + VAT for a lead generation website of up to 20 pages, with every word written for you. Across the wider market, published UK pricing guides from 2026 put a bespoke agency-built site at £10,000 to £25,000. Hosting comes on top: £19.99 or £49.99 a month with us.
That's the headline. The more useful question is which of those you need, and that comes down to where your customers are, what they search for and what you want the site to do once they land on it.
What decides the price of a website?
Time decides it. Every page has to be planned, written, designed and built, so the number of pages is the biggest lever on any quote. A one-page site that sets out what you do, shows your work and makes it easy to call you is a smaller job than a site with a page for every service and every area you cover.
Copy is the second lever. Writing the words for every page takes days, not hours, and when a quote looks cheap, the writing is the job it quietly hands back to you. We write every word on both packages, so the price you see is the price of a finished site, not a template waiting for your text.
Features are the third. Online booking, an AI chat and enquiry bot, a quote calculator, online payments, local area pages and email automation are all optional. Each one adds build time, so each one adds cost. Ecommerce adds more again: products, payments, delivery options and stock all have to be set up, so an online shop is a bigger build than a brochure or lead generation site.
Hosting is the last piece, and it's paid monthly rather than upfront. It's the running cost of having a site at all, so it belongs in any fair comparison between quotes.
What does a Dundee business need its website to do?
It needs to win the searches that happen close to home. Google's Business Profile help pages (checked October 2026) set out three factors behind local results: relevance, distance and prominence. In Google's words, "Relevance is how well a Business Profile matches what someone is searching for." Distance is how far you are from the person searching, prominence is how well-known your business is, and Google tells owners to keep their profile as complete as possible.
Your website backs all of that up. Your business name, phone number, services and opening hours should match your Business Profile exactly, because a mismatch gives Google two different stories about the same business. The services you list on your profile should each have a clear home on the site, in the words your customers use when they search.
Then there's the ground you cover. Dundee City had a population of 148,390 on 30 June 2025, the 13th highest of Scotland's 32 council areas, according to the National Records of Scotland council area profile for mid-2025. If you take work across the city and beyond it, in Monifieth, Angus towns such as Carnoustie, Arbroath and Forfar, or across the Tay in north Fife, in Newport-on-Tay, Tayport and St Andrews, your website should say so plainly. A one-page site can name the areas you serve. A lead generation site can give each one its own page, from Broughty Ferry within the city to Monifieth and Tayport beyond it, so Google has a page to match when someone there searches for what you do.
Mobile matters just as much. Ofcom's Online Nation report for 2025 found smartphones account for 77% of all time UK online adults spend online on the average day, using Ipsos iris data from May 2025. A site that's slow or fiddly on a phone loses the enquiry before it starts. Every site we build is mobile-friendly, with your phone number one tap away, so a customer can call you straight from the page without hunting for your number.
Should you pay upfront or monthly?
Upfront or monthly, you get the same site. The only difference is when the money leaves your account. Paying upfront is a one-off £1,500 + VAT or £4,500 + VAT, then hosting each month. Paying monthly spreads the build over 12 months at £149 a month + VAT for the brochure site or £499 a month + VAT for the lead generation site, with nothing to pay at the start.
The monthly route costs more in total: £1,788 + VAT against £1,500, and £5,988 + VAT against £4,500. The extra buys you breathing room: the site goes live without a large bill in the month you launch. Once the 12 months are done, you only pay for hosting.
What are the hidden costs?
There are three to check on any quote, ours included.
- Hosting. Ask what it costs each month and what it covers. With us, a brochure site's hosting is £19.99 a month and a lead generation site's is £49.99 a month, SSL certificate and all.
- Copy. Ask who writes the words. If the answer is you, add the hours you'll spend writing to the price you're comparing.
- Changes after launch. Ask how updates are handled once the site is live, from a new service page to a change of phone number, and what each one costs.
None of these is a trick on its own. They only become a problem when one quote includes them and another doesn't, and the cheaper-looking number turns out to be the more expensive site.
Which package suits a Dundee business?
One page is enough for a sole trader or start-up whose customers just want to check you're real and find your number. If your work comes from word of mouth and people look you up before they ring, a single strong page does that job.
Go bigger when your website has to bring in work from people who've never heard of you. If you sell a range of services across Dundee and the towns beyond it, a single page can't speak to each of those searches. With up to 20 pages, you can give each service and each area its own page, so a search for "electrician Broughty Ferry" has a page to match as well as "electrician Dundee". Our web design page for Dundee sets out what's in each build, and if your work leans towards Angus, our Angus web design page covers the towns there, and our Fife web design page does the same across the Tay.
When does the Growth Engine make more sense?
When you want enquiries coming in every week, not just a better website. The DLR Growth Engine for Dundee is £1,499 a month + VAT on a 12-month term, with no setup fees. It includes a free custom website worth £4,500, and we run your Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO and GEO every day, with one account manager and a monthly report. Your ad budget sits outside that fee and is billed on its own, and you decide how much it is.
The website becomes yours once the term is complete. If you were already planning to spend £4,500 on a lead generation site and then pay someone to market it, the Growth Engine puts both under one monthly fee.
